Anamaria Marinca is a Romanian actress. Her debut was on the large screen in Sex Traffic by Channel 4 and won the British Academy Television Award was presented to her for Best Actress. The actress fluently speaks French, German and English. Her father, who is a theatre professor in one of the top Romanian theatre schools, is theater teacher. She was awarded with the Best Female Actor Award in 2000 at the Mangalia Gala of Young Actors. She was recognized as an European Shooting Star" by the European Film Promotion Board. She starred in Cristian Mugiu's Romanian film "4 luni 3 saptamani e 2 days" (4 months, three weeks and 2 Days) which earned her the Palme d'Or award at Cannes Film Festival 2007. The film also won two additional awards: the Cinema Prize of French National Education System (FIPRESCI Prize) and the Cinema Prize. Youth Without Youth by Francis Ford Coppola was a different film in which she appeared. In 2008, she played Yasim anwar in the BBC series The Last Enemy. Marinca has appeared in Oliver Hirschbiegel's Five Minutes of Heaven and the Romanian drama Boogie. Later, she had a major part in the film Fury in which she played the role of a German woman known as Irma aunt of Emma.
