Cynthia Ann Crawford was born February 20, 1966. She is an American actress, model, and television personality. Through the 1990s and the 1980s, she was among the most popular supermodels and a ubiquitous presence on magazine covers and runways along with fashion-related campaigns. Later, she ventured into the business world and acting. In her sophomore year at high school, she got an inquiry from a local retailer regarding modeling work which she later discovered was a joke by two of her peers. However, the following year, another retailer took on a few high school students and, in particular Crawford who was hired to take on their work (including a fashion shoot). Roger Legel, a local photographer, approached Crawford to shoot her photo. He was in charge of photographing another college girl in DeKalb Nite Weekly. Crawford became the first photo shoot. The picture and the positive comments received from her were enough to inspire her to start modeling. She initially worked for an agency of a smaller size, but was sold to Elite Model Management shortly after she signed. At 17 years old she was a participant in Elite's Look of the Year contest and advanced to the national finals.
